This is the second of two reports on the contribution of livestock to the Ethiopian economy. Livestock specialists frequently argue that livestock production is underrepresented in the GDP estimates of African nations. With respect to Ethiopia, this study confirms that suspicion. Part of the problem is caused by deficiencies in data and estimation procedures. A second source of error lies in the conventional rules of national accounting.
